last day of may… bring it on june!

goodbye may

goodbye may

hello june

hello june

this month was more than new beginnings… it was just simply gorgeous.

flawless.

So just recently I have  purchased a new Canon lens- 24-70mm f/2.8, took a photo of my face, was disgusted with what I saw, was about to delete it off my camera, and then I accidently hit the zoom button- zoomed in so close I could SEE my skin.

I am fascinated by this texture. I can’t get over how disgusting it looks, yet I am in love with it. The saying, beauty is only skin deep, is true.

Yes, it is the little things that I find beautiful and worth exploring. More work will be coming soon!

steve walters’ screwball press chicago.

This news was passed along to me and I encourage everyone to try this out! My boyfriend and I are planning to once we get some sketches drawn out and floating- and I can’t wait!

For more information, click on the link below! I would also love to see your work if any of you do actually go!

the modern wing at the art institute of chicago.

I took advantage of the free admission to the museum last week, and am so glad I went! I only checked it out once, scrounged the museum a few times, and still feel like I haven’t seen it all! My plans are to go visit the museum sometime soon and drool over Joseph Cornell’s boxes again. *wink*  It is truly unbelievable to stand in front of someone’s work- someone who was not only a successful artist, but someone who really wanted to be an artist- to make art, to share art, to understand art, and to teach art. It is hard to find people like that these days…

On top of that, I brought along a Canon PowerShotA95 and got in a few images! I filled the memory up pretty quick- so here are some amazing photographs of some amazing artwork. enjoy and be inspired!

Love, Sylvia

my first entry.

I just want to thank those who took the time to check out my work! I really appreciate it. I want to say that my site is currently being worked on, organized, and redefined-bear with me!!! As of right now, I have different groups of work posted. I have much more and am in the process of editing and choosing what is worth showing. :)

A new site for my fashion editorial work is being worked on as well! Can’t wait to get that running!

Once again, thank you for checking my work out and I will leave you with updates on when this site is near completion!

On another note: to Tom Domenz and Tisha Ellis ( if you do read this)

Tom, it was so great seeing you and speaking with you briefly! I haven’t had the chance to stop by the school, but have plans to sometime by the end of this or next week. I wanted to tell you both that the work that I have produced at Columbia College Chicago has been inspired by and created because of you both. I cannot express how much you both have been an influence on my work and myself. If it wasn’t for you guys, and the art department that the highschool offered, I wouldn’t be who I am today and my work would not have this much meaning. I can’t wait to see you both again and show you how much you have helped me grow. Thank you so much, truly. And Congratulations to you both!

Love, Sylvia.
